Peterskirche

The pulpit from which Karl Barth gave his sermons in the Schällemätteli Prison in Basel stands opposite the entrance at the back of the curch in an area used for community activities (formerly the choir room). The prison itself was demolished in 2009. – We have to announce that the pulpit can no longer be seen in the Peterskirche. We are very grateful to the parish for giving the pulpit a place for almost 10 years.

In the front of the church you can see the statue of Johann Peter Hebel, a famous poet and evangelical theologian, who was born on May 10 (1760) – the same day as Karl Barth.
